Mosaik work in the archipelago
Pellinge, Finland / 2026

Me and my girlfriend Silva gave this quite ambigious present to Silva’s father for fathers day: A mosaic wall. He had built the pizza oven at their country house a decade ago and since then he had planned to let someone make art on it. We took the chance and promised him to cover it with tiles, with a naivistic view of the island. We collected left over tiles from friends’ basements, and drove them with the boat out to the island. The project was physical and very demanding, but it was a lot of fun. We probably carried around 100kg of tiles out there. After a long weekend of hard labour and back pain, we finished the mosaic work and we were really happy with the end result.

Reworked Vaarnii 002 AST Stool
Designed by Dimitri Baehler

I had worked on a serie of artwork for about a year, and discussed with Adam from Helsinki Playground about an exhibition at the showroom. He suggested this idea that I would have an exhibition together with Vaarnii, on their 5th birthday party, on Vappu (the evening before labour day). Sounded pretty good for me, so he linked me up with the guys at the finnish furniture company. They were keen on collaborating. Adam had this idea that I could draw on one of their products and display it on the exhibition. The idea was that it would look like a kid would have drawn on the stool, so it was up my alley and the guys at Vaarnii were down. They sent me a 002 AST Stool, designed by Dimitri Baehler, to Stockholm, where I had by then lived for a couple of months. They also sent me a couple of pine boards (all the products by Vaarnii are made of pine), so I could experiment with different techniques and coating. The whole process felt kind of crazy. It actually reminded me of my days in elementary school, secretly drawing on the desk, scared to get caught. In the end the stool got ready, after several sessions of drawing and sanding and drawing again, at the office, on the courtyard, during weekends. I’m glad the rest of my artwork was pretty much ready by then, so besides from my everyday job as a designer, I got to focus on this stool. Later, ofcourse I did some last minute artwork and exhibited them too, but that was just bonuses.

Three Wooden Fishes
Exhibited at the opening of Helsinki Playground’s
Showroom in Helsinki / June 2025

This serie of wooden fishes started spontaneously at the country house when I got my hands on an old dead cherry tree that my girlfriends parents had saved. I started making one of the fishes from that cherry tree, and I found some mahogny saved from and old boat, and also got some dried juniper. The serie is inspired by the japanese “koinobori” fishes, that symbolizes family members. The big one is my mother, the middle one is me, and the last one is my older sister. These fishes was exhibited at the Helsinki Playground Showroom opening, among with work by other local and international artists, and some curated objects from all over Scandinavia and Japan.
